Day 2 of 50, Water Fast.

The second day is over hurrah! A full complete 48hours and more of no food. Only consuming multivitamin tablets, green tea, black tea, black coffee and several litres of water.

Today I noticed the hunger, it hit me at precisely 13:10, my stomach was crying out for food, however I resisted the cravings, with them subsiding away around 20minutes later, and they haven’t returned since, I believe the emotional hunger has now subsided, with my brain realising it doesn’t need the food it just craves it because we have addicted it to eating 3times a day at regular intervals. This I believe is also proven through the fact that my hunger came and went around the times that I would usually eat within, such as 8am, 1pm and 8pm. This to me proved that it was the mind wanting rather than needing food otherwise there would be a more constant hunger apparent at different time periods throughout the day.

Fasting? Won’t the weight pile back on afterwards?

So 50 days without food. Aren’t you just going to pile weight back on when you finish? Surely body will store all the food you eat and you will just gain it all back on?

This is what I believe to be the most common misconception within a question that I get asked. The short answer is yes and no. If I broke the fast at any day including day 50 and went on an absolute binge eating session then yes, obviously this is the case, however that’s only because I have consumed more calories than my BMR. Day One

So officially I have fasted from 21st January 2018 at 10pm until now. However I actually classifying my fast starting from 00:00 on 22nd January 2018. This means I am now officially one day through without any food, in this period I have only consumed my mixture of 3multivitamin pills, a shed load of water (about 4litres every 24hrs), several cups of black coffee, black tea and green tea.

I will update every day with the effects I am feeling, how it is going, the emotional states that I enter, every detail possible to give a true reflection of how the 50day ‘water’ fast is going.

The plan is to continue the fast for 50 consecutive 24hour periods, 50 consecutive days. This will involve a weigh in at periods of 5days, then 2 days. This means every Monday and Friday morning. I will display these figures on this blog and inform you of my progress.

Throughout the process I will inform you of different medical research and ideas surrounding short term and long term fasts and how they work on the body, I will provide some insight into my thoughts and ideas on weight loss and tips I can provide for sticking to a programme.

I would like to express now that if at any point through this fast I start to feel unwell or have any serious adverse side effects I will break the fast and consume a small amount of liquidated food. Although I am experienced in dieting, I am not a fool nor an idiot, there is no point losing weight if you’re dead or gravely ill as a result.

Welcome to Unhealth Freak

This blog is a portal into the true outcomes of those ‘fad’ diets. It is time to truly see what the effects of some of the most hard to complete, emotionally challanging and health detrimental diets actually do to your body.

Do they work? How much can you loose? Will I become ill? Will I die?

These are some of the questions many of us ask when we read these fairytale weight loss regimes or diets.

The most basic fact, obviously there are more intricate details involved, but the real basic fact about the human body is that no matter what you do during a day it burns calories, it burns your BMR, Base Metabolic Rate. This is the amount of calories you burn during a day from being completely at rest, through the mind thinking, the heart beating, the blood rushing through you veins and your lungs breathing etc.

For most people this on average around 2000 calories for an adult. Please feel free to visit the following website to gain an approximation of your BMR rate as an indication to what your body burns at rest:

Energy is constant, well scientist say it is, me on the other hand I am no scientist so I’ll take their word for it! But using this theory, it is simple to know for a fact that the body has to receive the BMR amount of calories a day in order to remain at a constant. i.e. if you have a BMR of 2000 calories you would have to consume bang on 2000 calories a day to maintain your weight exactly as it is. If you consume more than 2000 you will gain weight, either muscle or fat dependant on your exercise programme, and the same if you were to consume less than 2000 calories the opposite happens, you would loose weight, a mixture of fat and muscle.

But what happens if you ate 0 calories? If you completely fasted, by this I mean ate nothing, consumed only water, black tea, green tea, black coffee and a mixture of multivitamin pills. Would you survive? Would you become ill? Would you even loose weight? This is the first unhealthly option this blog will investigate, using myself, Leo Brown, as its voluntary test subject.

If it is as simple as the basic notion I mentioned above, I should loose weight and fast. Let’s put this to the test.

My stats at day 0 (21st January 2018):

Height 6ft 2inches

Weight: 269lbs

Please note that none of this should be tried at home. I have spent many years trying a whole variety of diets and pushed my body to extremes and have gained weight to reloose to try different diets to quell remours and expose lies. I personally know the limits of my body far better than any medical professional and regurlarly perform self check ups as well as visiting private medical professional bi-weekly for full medicals to check they agree with mine. DO NOT try any of these methods unless under strict medical supervision or have been advised to do so, as these can result in serious harm to the human body and even death in extreme circumstances. This blog is here to try them so you don’t have to.
